All of the belligerents used cavalry during WWII. The Polish army was actually very good for the mid-rate power that Poland was in 1939. The German army was just much better. So much better, that they defeated France, the second-most powerful empire in the world, in a matter of weeks.<br /><br />The famous picture of Polish cavalry strewn in front a panzer battalion was taken by German propaganda photographers. The cavalry had charged German infantry earlier in the day, and had won the skirmish, but had left their dead behind. There was not Polish...Rafi - one minor correction. There was not Polish army at the turn of the last century, as there was no independent Poland at that time.
