border fences

Israeli news has been reporting about dozens, or maybe hundreds, of Israeli Druze having breached for the border fence and pouring into Syria to help the Druze there (Israel is urging them to not do this as Israel itself is working to protect the Druze in Syria from the attacks).

So another Israeli border fence was easily breached by a band of civilians, though this time it was in the other direction...

Does Israel not know how to build a decent border fence? Maybe we need Trump's border walls here in Israel....

    Well there's a couple of differences. The border fence is likely built to scan for approaching threats from Syria, not people trying to leave Israel for Syria. All the cameras point north, I guess.
    Also, the point of these fences isn't to be unbreachable but to give warning so Tzahal can get them and handle intruders.

    Have you ever been to the Syrian border? There's barely any border fence there at all, not least because there's a really big buffer zone, currently occupied by the IDF but usually by a big UN force. Also geography: Israel has the high ground there.

    Also, Syria hasn't invaded Israel in over fifty years.
