The WAKF on the Temple Mount has been systematically destroying all archaeological evidence of Jewish history on the Temple Mount. They dig without authorization, they use heavy machinery for digging, and they ignore all archaeological finds. This has been going on for a while and Israel has done nothing to stop it.
Nitzana Darshan Leitner is suing the WAKF for this. I received a few weeks ago a notice that she was preparing the lawsuit and was asking people to register as plaintiffs in the case. Being that Har Ha'Bayit is dear to me, I decided I would register.
So today Leitner filed her suit against the Wakf and I am a plaintiff. My lawyer better go after them like a bulldog and rip 'em to shreds. Leitner is famous for many high profile cases, including having won lawsuits for victims against the PA for terrorism
amen, way to go.
ReplyDeleteI liked you said: "Har Habayis is dear to me."
That had a certain saracastic tone to it, did you do it on purpose, or that's just how it came out?
Are you serious?
ReplyDeleteGo get the f%%^^&ers!
ReplyDeleteI would also sign up, maybe we should do a linkage encouraging all Israeli bloggers to take up this issue.
whats - no sarcasm. I go up to Har Habayit as often as I can, so I was happy to put my name on it...
ReplyDeletemiriam - yes
jacob - maybe but it might be too late. I think it was filed already
Sue, sue, sue, sue, sue...
ReplyDeleteWhen money makes the world go 'round, a good lawsuit is better than war for getting things done.
Admit that you thought of your blog too!
ReplyDeleteat the time I actually did not. It wa sonly when I saw the article today that I thought of it
ReplyDeleteinteresting...
ReplyDeleteall of a sudden the "american way" of suing, which a few months back you blasted on your blog, now seems ironiclly convinient.
Good fer you. I like it.
I then commented on how the type of lawsuits that are often frivolous have not reached Israel. Frivolous lawsuits are like $3 million for spilling a cup of coffee, or suing Honda for $65 million because your drunk daughter could not figure out how to open a seatbelt after she drove into a lake. or the like.
ReplyDeleteThis lawsuit is not for money and is not frivolous. It is to stop the Wakf from destroying historical and archaeological material.
I agree - it should not require a lawsuit. The government should stop it. Any country would. But because they are not stopping it, this group is suing to stop it.
By the way, when i said it was a sarcastic tone, i know it is dear to you, but why shouldn't it be dear to everyone? Thats what i thought you are subtly saying: "I love this place, so i will fight for it. unfortunately not many people do..."
ReplyDeletewhats - That is not what I meant, though now that you bring it up, it is an interesting point. I would like to think that all frum Jews or Jews who care about Jewish history would hold the Temple Mount to be very dear and important. Is that the case? I am not so sure it is... I think that many people shrug it off and say it is too political or what difference does it make because we should not be going up there, or why upset the Arabs or things like that...
ReplyDeleteI myself have desired many times to go up, but my rabbaim have advised me not to, saying that "we do not do that now." Without getting into a discussion on Daas Torah, whenever i go to the Kotel, I do wish i could go up to Har habyis. I love seeing pictures from you guys who do go up, and wait for the day when i can go up feeling free and excited.
ReplyDeleteAt the same time, i don't think this is the time for large groups of people to go up to har habayis. The fact that small groups go up, is the right thing. If hundreds of people went up all the time, i fear more violence could break out.
Maybe that's the wrong belief....
