  1. Cool. Where do the women pray? I see a stairway leading upstairs is that where the women go?

  3. Heard an interesting story about Kever Rachel in an interview with Chanan Porat on the Radio earlier this week.

In the first initialed draft of the Oslo agreement between Rabin and Arafat, Kever Rachel, like Kever Yosef was under full PA authority.

Former MK Chanan Porat went to discuss the issue with Rabin, knowing that it would be almost impossible to have the agreement changed after it was initialed. On the way to Rabin's office, he met MK Menachem Porush who asked if he could join him.

Porat said that when they went into Rabin's office, after he started presenting his maps etc, Porush started crying uncontrollably, saying over and over "Reb Yithak, Mama Rachel will be behind the fence, what will happen to our mama" (or words to that effect).

According to the story this outpouring of grief is what convinced Rabin to change his mind and keep Kever Rachel under Israeli control.

  4. Michael - I read that story in a few places in the past. It is to Porush's credit. On the other hand, it is also because of Menachem Porush that control of Har Habayit was given to the Arabs... I read the stories in the same article (in an interview with Menachem Porush) and he bragged about both aspects of the story...
