Which came first - the chicken or the egg?

Inter Aliya thought up a new chumra for pesach - no cleaning because of chukas hagoyim, since our cleaning is more like spring cleaning.

then he found out that the origin of spring cleaning is Pesach cleaning!

So which came first, the chicken or the egg?
