  1. Thanks for the link, but if I can find what I was smoking when I wrote that post, I'll be sure to lend you some. It must have been quite strong.

  2. Rafi, I am going to Israel in a few weeks with my family (wife and three young kids), and I am wondering if you can give me any advice or know of any website that can give me information what we can do while we are there.

  3. ZB, first of all, buy a guide book.

I live here but from our family travels, we usually find the Eyewitness Travel Guides to be the best overall.

In addition, contact the nearest Israeli consulate/embassy and ask them if they have a tourist kit to send you.

And of course, google, though you'll have to weed out all the reservations sites.

    Good luck!

  4. ZB - there are Hebrew sites that have a lot of tourist info. I am not sure about English sites. I know there are some attractions for the Bet Shemesh area listed on the shemesh.co.il website. It is probably not enough for you. the best would be a good book like what Shy Guy suggested (though I am not familiar with that book).
I will try to look for some good websites...

  5. Thanks for getting back to me Rafi (and Shy guy). I am going to be staying in Jerusalem for the 3 weeks we will be in Israel. I am more worried about what kid friendly activities we can do for smaller kids (age 1 till 6). Also I am seriously considering renting a car while we are there, but am a bit nervous driving in Israel (combination of crazy drivers and going into dangerous areas), however to move around with 3 kids (and at least 2 car seats) will be very difficult with just using taxis or buses. Also not all things we want to do need to be geared for kids, but everything we do needs to have the ability to be able to bring kids along.

  6. 3 weeks in Jerusalem alone for touring is a bit too much.

Rent a car and drive carefully. Ignore the rude drivers. For added protection, print a sign which says TOURIST DRIVER and scotch tape it to the rear window. I did this when we went to Italy. I believe I received curses with understanding.
