Personally we have been to Eilat a few times, but not at all within the past 10 years. I had taken a dislike to Eilat, considering it a big waste of money. All you do is go from one place to another and pay too much money to look at fish from yet another angle.
But Eilat is one of the most popular vacation spots in Israel, and now they have decided to accommodate the religious vacationer as well. According to this report on Kipa, they have been working on preparing a separate beach, and it is nearly finished. It is too late for this vacation season, but you can now begin planning ahead for next year...
That is in addition to the great increase in general religion throughout the city of Eilat. There is a hesder yeshiva in Eilat and it has influenced the city tremendously, from all I have heard...
Enjoy!
I heard you can even see a fireworks show from Aquaba. Then again, maybe those were Ketushas. Or whatever. Dude, they landed in the right place.
ReplyDeleteLast year I went to Eilat for the first time in about 15 years and was amazed how much the place has changed for the better.
ReplyDeleteAt one time there were almost no kosher restaurants outside the Hotels and it was hard to find a minyan. Now there are several kosher places in the main tourist area, some even mehadrin, and minyanim in some of the hotels even on weekdays.
Club Hotel has a weekday minyan three times a day which is used by local residents and employees, so there is always a strong minyan, even if there are no religious guests in the hotel.
