Dancing With The Torah at Barby

Perhaps the most surprising of Hakafot Shniyot events was the Hakafot Shniyot that took place in the Barby Club of Tel Aviv, one of the top live performance clubs in Israel.

The head of the Tel Aviv branch of the Rosh Yehudi organization, an organization dedicated to strengthening the Jewish identity among all sectors of Israeli society, and bridging gaps between secular and religious, came up with an idea. His idea was to hold Hakafot Shniyot celebrations in the Barby Club and expose the Barby's regular clientèle to some Jewish singing and dancing celebrating the Torah.

The owners of the Barby agreed to the arrangements, and Rosh Yehudi with the Nosei Keilim band descended upon the top club of Tel Aviv. A short while later, the Barby club was packed with revelers dancing with the Torah.

What would the Berditchever have said had he seen such a sight?
