It is amazing how people pull together and do what they can in a time of need.
Many of us are used to the old-fashioned type of chessed, such as offering lodging for those evacuated, donating food and money for those who need it, donating clothes and other items evacuees generally need. Even going out and directly helping, whether it is ambulatory services, medic services and the like.
Yet some people find ways to help even when it is not conventional help that is needed.

A group of
masseuses and physical therapists got together and went up to the staging area of the firemen and service people who have been busy fighting the fires and dealing with evacuating the residents and whatever else needed to be done. They realized they could help in a different way. They took over part of the tent of the staging area and spent their time giving massages to the firemen and others who came back weary and worn out from their work, helping them relax for a few minutes and giving them strength to get back out their and continue their work.
