Profiles In Judaism: Moshe Braun, Judaic Artist Extraordinaire

I had the opportunity recently to talk to Moshe Braun and see his work. Moshe is an amazingly talented, local RBS resident, artist.

Moshe grew up in the US, and spent his life studying art. He studied industrial design in college, and eventually co-founded a start up company as an industrial designer. He later took some time off to study, spent some time in Israel, and developed his passion for Judaic art, while also studying and becoming a certified sofer sta"m

Moshe has fine-tuned his abilities and has been creating beautiful Judaic art, melding his two skills of safrus with his artistic abilities, and has been creating amazing artwork. He specializes in papercutting, along with calligraphy, water colors, pastels and more, and he does his stuff on both parchment and paper. Moshe started his career in Judaic art by making custom ketubahs, family trees, and special designs based on prayers and manuscripts.

Moshe's style is geared towards bringing out the beauty of both Judaism and the Land of Israel. He is inspiring, and his artwork is both beautiful and inspiring.

I am no art maven, but even an ignoramus like me can recognize beauty when it is in front of him. You can see images of much of his work on the Moshe Braun website.

Moshe explained some of his paintings to me, and the way he researches his projects for commissioned artwork is extremely thorough and creative, and the results are pieces of art that are not just beautiful but also meaningful. He produces a piece that has meaning along with beauty, and the world is a better place because of the beauty and inspiration he adds to it.

Moshe is more than an artist. he is inspiring to talk to, and his work is inspiring to look at.

Moshe will be hosting an open gallery in his studio for people to see his work, and buy pieces, on the last night and day of Chanukah.
