QOTD

I have already said before that there are some rabbis from whom one must take away their pens. It is interesting to note that those same Zionist Rabbis support the hetter mechira during the shmitta year by which they sell the land of Eretz Yisrael to non-Jews.

  3. Heter Mechira keeps Jews connected to our Land, while selling apts to Arabs removes us. Take away his pen.

  4. yes Batya
It's got nothing to do with halacha consistency or intellectual honesty!
Take away the pen of anyone who doesn't further our ideology!Exactly the point Rav Elyashiv was making.

  5. They were MANY poskim and gedolei Yisroel (including Rav Elyashiv's mesader kiddushin) who gave basis for heter mechira.

    As anon says "our" ideology.

Today it's the Charedi way or the highway

  8. Still it's good.

    Batya, and everyone else...

Rav Kook and the European Rabbanim who came before him all said that one must check the economic situation in Eretz Yisrael every 7 years, and not simply make heter mekhirah automatically.

This is yet another example of how those non-robotic state loyalists know more of Rav Kook than the so called "Kookniks."

Batya, as you know, you have had and continue to have Rabbis in your area who are very knowledgeable and involved with Batei Din which monitor Shemitah observance, produce collection and distribution (otzar beth din).

These include rabbis from Shilo, Shevuth Rahel, Kokhav HaShahar (a mamlakhti even), and other yishuvim.

But, who cares about what Rav Kook really said anyway.
