On Friday Rav Amar led prayer services at the Kotel so that the fires ravaging Northern Israel should stop. As part of his service, he declared that he paskens that Hashem must annul His decree and extinguish the fires.
Unfortunately, it seems like Hashem paskens differently.
Well put... as a continuation of the segula discussion last week.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately too many people think you can just push God's buttons and get instant results.
How do you know it was a decree from G-d and not just a couple of careless kids? Did G-d speak to you directly and tell you this?
ReplyDeleteBefore you answer me that everything is under G-d's hashgacha, there are Rishonim that say that only Jews who are very close to G-d are under His hashgacha (and not the general "amcha").
Rav Amar spoke in plural, i.e., that "we" pasken that the fire should stop. Even if Hashem disagrees, He's only a da'at yachid, which we don't listen to if two or more are against. Too bad that Rav Ovadia Yosef took his side, otherwise He'd be forced to stop the fires immediately.
