Yesterday we went for a morning tour of Moshav Mevo Modiin, the moshav famous for having been founded by R' Shlomo Carlebach and his followers.
The tour was split between two sections. The first was spent on a little farm. We milked a goat and made cheese, the kids did some crafts, the kids got donkey rides and chased some chickens and Guinea Fowl around. The second part was a tour of the ruins and antiquities that have been found in the region. We looked at an ancient wine press and an ancient olive press, both from the First Temple era, that had undergone renovations by the Crusaders. Ancient Jewish graves, along with Mamaluk graves.
The time spent was very nice, fun and an overall pleasant morning trip. They have a beautiful shaded little park where the kids were able to play, while we ate lunch.
At a certain point, we went into the shul for a talk and mini-concert with the Solomons. It started with Mrs. Solomon explaining the history of the moshav. The interior of the shul is painted beautifully by one of the local artists.
After her talk, her husband, Benzion Solomon, and one of their sons, came in and gave their mini-concert. A couple inspiring stories, along with a few songs they played and sang. Benzion Solomon is a legend in the world of Jewish music, and hearing/seeing him candidly like that was a real treat.
Here is the part of the mini-concert that I recorded:
I think it's actually Mevo ModiiM
