I like how everyone is appalled at the seeming racism when some people oppose the African refugees from Sudan and other places that are moving into neighborhoods all over Israel and call for them to be deported, or at least to stop renting them apartments n those neighborhoods.
And then, when suddenly it is getting closer to home, and the Sudanese refugees are moving into areas of their own city and getting close to their homes, suddenly they start asking what we can do about the Sudanese refugee problem, or how we can get rid of them?
Personally, I think they should be deported. It is not racism that is making me say that, but Israel is a Jewish state. Every country has its rules of who it lets in and who not, and those rules are meant to preserve the nature of that state. Israel has its rules as well, and the Sudanese refugees do not match the criteria. An exception was made, due to the distress they were in, and they were allowed a place of refuge, while few other countries were being similarly helpful. Eventually, the refugees need to move on, either being sent back home or to another place more appropriate for them.
I don't think it is racist to say that the refugees should be sent on their way. I think the country, every country, has the right to define who it allows in, and all countries due. Maybe there is a touch of racism in how countries define the criteria, and I don't have the answer to the question of whether that is right or wrong, if we should have a world without borders or not, but the fact is we have a world with border and every country defines what criteria to use to allow people in to deny them entry.
Some people are politically correct and oppose racism because racism is bad, but assume that other peoples behavior is based on racism. Once it hits closer to home, it is not quite as easy to remain politically correct.
