Iran Can Take A Long Walk off A Short Pier

About two weeks ago Iran registered their protest against the 2012 London Olympics, with the threat that they will boycott the games, due to the official zigzagged logo design seeming to appear similar to the word "Zion".

Such a threat would normally be taken seriously. Iran is a major country, and their boycotting the Games is a major threat. Olympic officials dont like such threats, and dont like major countries not participating. Especially with the trend nowadays of licking up to Muslims and Muslim countries, and with the world to be "against" Iran politically because of their drive to obtain nuclear power, having them participate and show that sports is above politics is always a major goal of the Olympic committee.

Well, not this time. Not yet at least. David Cameron, the Prime Minister of England, basically told the Iranians to go take a long walk off a short pier. He also criticized them for their athletes refusing to compete against Israelis in international competitions, and saying anybody who comes to compete at the Olympics better be prepared to compete against anybody and everybody else.

From Ynetnews:
It's completely paranoid," the British prime minister told the Jewish News. "If the Iranians don't want to come, don't come, we won't miss you. It would be a crazy reason for not coming"

Cameron further added that athletes unwilling to compete against Israelis would not be welcome at the Games. "They can't come if they're going to behave like that," he said. "You shouldn't have that approach to sport. If you were going to come to the Olympic Games, you take part against everybody and if you're going to behave like that you're not welcome."
Way to go, Mr. Cameron!

  1. I am impressed. Never thought a European leader, except one from Germany (because of guilt), would actually stand up for Israel in any way.
