After last week hafganat anak to which just a few hundred supporters of the thugs turned up, the supporters of OROT are holding a hafgana this evening. I plan to be there. I do not know if their rallying call of either you are with us or against us is accurate, but I do feel it is important the the thugs should be marginalized and even chased out of town.
Participating in this hafgana is one step in marginalizing them, and leading Bet Shemesh back to being the diverse city it should be, where different communities can live side by side, each being allocated the resources needed without stepping on the others' toes.
Anyone who davens at BTYA and attends this rally is like one who lives in a glass house and throws stones.
ReplyDeleteA shul that doesn't allow a noble tzedaka organization like Lema'an Achai to publicly raise funds deserves the same hafganos that the other "extremists" in Bet are going to get.
Please don't call yourselves "open minded" Charedim when you don't practice what you preach.
It would be better for you to stay home in Alef and protest the extremists here.
Rafi
ReplyDeletei hope to see you there
but dont assume that the other side are only "thugs"
it perhaps started that way
but now, it is being actively backed by leading mainstream chareidi rabbis from all across bet shemesh
so the violent thugs are at the very least - being actively supported by all mainstream chareidim
I just returned from the hafgana..it was in fact a gathering of unity and a kiddush HaShem.
ReplyDeleteI did in fact see some members of Bais Tfilla.
If they truly believe the great messages being spoken this evening they will go back and demand tolerance in their own kehila.
END THE BAN ON TZEDAKA AND CHESED!
Thank you, Rafi, for publicizing this hafganah.
ReplyDeleteYes, it was indeed wonderful and very dignified. Deliveries by a RBS A rabbi (I'm from BS, so I'm less familiar with the folks from over the mountain), Old BS veterans, a FSU olah, an Ethiopian spokesman and a Chabadnik/Carlebach black-hatted singer all brought the important points home. Special thanks are due to Rabbi Dov Lipman, who has been working non-stop on the issue.
Bsorot tovot to all Jews and a healthy, happy, fulfilling year to all!
Hi, also at the rally and nice to see so many faces from Ramat Beit Shemesh Alef.
