No, that was not the result of a terrorist attack. That was Egged bus #417 from Bet Shemesh to Jerusalem catching fire en route to Jerusalem on Highway 1. The incident shut down the highway. Thankfully, nobody was injured in the incident..

ReplyDeleteA bit earlier. It's the bus that starts at 6:40am; caught on fire sometime around 7:30 or 7:45 I think. I really should know this exactly; my wife was on it!

The bus started to fill with smoke from the back, and in typical Israeli fashion the driver ignored the cries of the passengers, eventually he listen and pulled over near Shoresh.
Everybody got out fine and then the fire really took over burning the bus to a crisp.
Route one was closed till about 8 AM.
Yes, you are correct. 6:30. At that hour, all I can think about is what time it arrives at our stop ;)
