  1. But why is he lighting? Shouldn't the ba'aal habayit light or is this just a photo op?

  2. Isn't the mitzvah "Ner Ish U'beito"? Not "Local politician who wants to get brownie points and all the news photographers"?

This picture is kind of what is wrong with the religious political parties in this country. Politicians using Judaism to forward their goal. I thought Am Shalem would be different. I guess not.

  3. Am I the only one without a huge silver menorah? Am I yotze?

  4. Maybe a response from Rabbi Lipman (who can be seen in the background) can be gotten? He is a Rabbi, is he not?

  5. I asked Rav Lipman about the event in which Rav Amsalem lit at the Margolese house. His answer is:

MK Rabbi Amsalem had met with Hadassa over a month ago over these issues so it was only natural for him to reach out to her when the story broke into the national news. Hadassa mentioned that it was important for Naama to see that it is not all chareidim so the family arranged for Rav Amsalem to come and be part of their chanukah lighting that night.

  6. And I presume that it was only natural that a political party should get PR from it as well.

As I wrote, it seems that this party is not that much different than other political parties.
