Thank you Magen for helping Beit Shemesh children and their families.
ReplyDeleteIs it true that Rabbi Kornfeld has started another child protection organization?
ReplyDeleteIf this is so I would be very concerned.
1)Rabbinic guided child protection is an oxymoron.
2)In difficult financial times why duplicate services?
3) From what I have heard Magen has been very effective in several cases. I would be very afraid that parents would now choose the organization with the "frummer hechsher" and choose name over quality.
4)Won't this befuddle the welfare dept and police if there are 2 such groups?
I have also heard that Rabbi Kornfeld has responded to Magen by opening up his own copy-cat organization.
ReplyDeleteAside from the tremendous waste of community resources, following the Kupa Shel Tzedaka vs Lema'an Achai decade long fiasco, this is far more dangerous.
Given Rabbi Kornfeld's appalling record "dealing with" child abuse in his community, school and street, the results of his latest foray will almost certainly be catastrophic for the children of our community.
Rabbi Kornfeld should stick to being a Rabbi, and pass over the "child abuse" file to Magen, the Police and Social Services.
B'H for Magen!!
ReplyDeleteI was there. There were too many empty seats.
ReplyDeleteIt was a very informative presentation. Although, I thought that I knew a lot about the topic already, I definitely learned new things and was reminded of old things.
The survivor's personal account was too painful to listen to, but if it inspires people to save even one child it was worthwhile.
I would like to see the schools start teaching children how to stay safe, and not rely on parents alone.
