Toldos Aharon Denounces The Nazi Imagery Protest Rally

Interestingly, I read today in the Mishpacha free weekly newspaper that Toldos Aharon has officially spoken out and denounced the public rally from this past Motzei Shabbos for having deteriorated into the donning of yellow stars and other clothing similar in appearance to Auschwitz barracks clothing.

It seems that the main instigator behind the plan to recall the images of the holocaust was a member in good standing in Toldos Aharon. Not only that but it was his own son who was dressed like the kid from the ghetto who raised his hands to imitate the picture of the child with the rifle pointed at him by a Nazi.

The leadership of the group, the council of 7 elders, has called him out and denounced him for it. As well, they are considering throwing his kids out of their schools because of it.

I am happy to see that even Toldos Aharon thinks they went too far.

  1. Yup, throwing kids out of school is definitely the way to go. Punish the kids for the stupidity of the father.

How about forcing him to wear a scarlet letter on his bekishe for a year?

  2. I think Toldos Aron made an error here. That crazy protest was bad for everyone. Mostly for the chareidim. It was evil, insulting and frankly denies the horrors of the holocaust by making such a parallel. But by them denouncing this protest, proves that the other stuff is acceptable. Like what is happening in Beit Shemesh and all of the other violent and offensive protests. It proves that they also believe - shetika k'hodaa.

  3. They are denouncing it because it was from one of them, so they had to make it clear it was not sanctioned by them. The Bet Shemesh thing has nothing to do with them.

Yay! They're going to punish the sons for the sins of the father. So nice.

  5. You guys are interesting. They are responding as harshly as they are because of all the calls for blood from the whole world.

  6. Weren't there 1500 people at the protest?? Was one solitary individual behind all that? Where did they get the yellow stars from? Who sewed or ironed them on their "uniforms?" This is clearly not a one-man job.

  7. i saw the number 1500 mentioned elsewhere but dont know what the source is. I saw on a couple news sites that there were just tens of protestors at the rally.

the yellow stars might have been stickers, no need for sewing. Also, I only saw a few people with auschwitz clothes in the pictures. it might not have been as big a project as it sounded like.

  8. My guess is that they have a fund-raising trip to the Five Towns coming up.

  9. so here is an idea: people say all the time that gedolim are silent because these crazies won't listen to them. if they have a fund raiser coming up (or even stam) so the gedolim can publish a directive (in hebrew, english, yiddish, french, whatever) stating flat out that it is prohibited to donate funds to these people.

You act as though there aren't 10s of other schools in the nieghborhood to go to. The school a child in those communities goes to, is for the parent's benefit, not the child's.

    "the council of 7 elders"

So this went against the Protocols of the Elders of Anti-Zion?

  13. At first I was disturbed by the possibility of the kid being thrown out. I thought it was wrong, as the kid didnt do anything wrong. the parents dressed the kid up, and someone told him to lift his hands. He probably had no idea what he was imitating.

after thinking about it for a bit I decided it isnt so bad as it is a punishment for the parents not the kid. TA is telling the parents that what they did was beyond the pale of what is acceptable. Throwing the kid out is a rejection of the parents, not of the kids. It is almost pushing him out of the community.

  14. Ben - as we all know, gedolim will never sign such a paper. So how do we get the modern orthodox and dati leumi communities, and even much of the haredi community to stop donating to these guys and treating them like royalty?

  15. The MO and DL treat "them" like royalty because of their own religious and/or political insecurities.

People need/seek approval from all kinds of places, even if it costs money (in the form of tzedaka).

  16. Once when visiting Jerusalem a friend and I woke up late on Shabbat, we rushed into the first shul we saw, it turned out to our horror to be a Toldos Aharon shul. I was already three steps into the shul before I realised what the gold/bronze flashes beneath the tent sized Tallusim meant. I was five steps in before my flight instinct kicked in, but when I turned to flee, the doorway was blocked by this huge Chasid approaching us. As we were dressed as Mizrachi Zionist Jews with kippa struga, I expected that they would stone us and spit on our corpses. Instead they welcomed us, gave us honored seats up front, fetched us Sidurs and were very kind and nice to us. They made us feel welcomed and special and not hated or scorned.
If I was ever to become a Chasid I would certainly consider the TA's as a possibility.
Zionists/anti-Zionist whatever, the TA's have good hearts. Real menshadika people.
