  1. Interesting clip of the 7 year old with Tfillin.

In Daf Yomi recently there was a discussion about what age a child should start mitzvot, and it said that a child should start wearing Tfillin as soon as he is old enough to understand the importance of the Mitzva (don't remember the exact wording).

In our shiur we had a discussion as to why small children wear Tzitzit, shake a luluv, etc, but do not wear Tfillin until a month (or few months) before their Bar Miztva.

I guess that this video shows that that it is (or could be) acceptable for much young boys to wear tfillin.

  2. well, just because he did it doesnt mean it is acceptable..
    just kidding.
I think the reason kids dont is because of the issue of guf naki and at what age can they keep one..

we are going through this issue now as my son is about to be bar mitzva and we are trying to pick a date for him to start putting on his tefillin. The standard 1 month does not work out so well in this instance, so we are choosing an alternate date. In my cavalier way I said he could start wearing them already now if he wants, as there is no reason not to.
