A Sem Girl Says Part 2 (video)

A Sem Girl Says Part 2

  1. This is public embarrassment, period. These "charming" guys found some good-natured girls to play along, and played them for fools - literally, made them look like unintelligent fools. Then the self-described "ladies man" tells a girl he likes her smile and says "just kidding".

All to the delight of frum kids (and adults) who find this hilarious. Well it's a cruel kind of laughter, part of the "LOL generation" of snarkiness at others' expense and misfortune.

I expect as much from the non-frum world, but frum people are "in theory" at least supposed to have a conscience and strive for sensitivity in their interactions with others. The truth is these guys would certainly be more sensitive in a one-on-one conversation. It's the fact that they're displaying themselves to thousands of internet viewers that gets them to humiliate these girls. And for this they get "kavod" amongst their peers.

    I'm not impressed...

  2. Agree with David 100%. You shouldn't have posted this, Rafi

  3. Honestly, I think it's the community should be embarrassed, not the girls. The guys are doing a public service, but showing us just how bad our education system is doing.

Even if they're choosing just a handful of girls that don't know the meaning of כותל that's a disgrace to their teachers, parents, Rabbeim, and the rest of us.

Yes, it's funny. Yes, it's embarrassing. But it's important that we know who we are graduating from our High Schools.

  4. Its also possible that they are saying these thigns intentionally, for the entertainment value. According to the guys, they got each girls permission after showing them the video. they each knew how stupid they look and gave permission to post it online anyway. Makes me think all, or at least most of, these girls are acting.

  5. I don't think so, Rafi. First off, you can tell they're not acting. Second, we're living in a culture where being "famous" is a ma'alah regardless of what you're famous for. It's a phenomenon literally of "shamelessness" - where being made to look like an idiot is well worth it if you can have your moment in the spotlight - in fact it's something to be proud of!

  6. I know some of these girls. All other thoughts, comments and positions aside, I know that some of them knew exactly what this was all about and they were playing along.

  7. Young women need to learn that they should NEVER dumb themselves down so that boys will like them. Girls love making guys laugh, even if they lose their respect. Girls and bys should learn that they need to gain respect, not laughter. These boys got in zero trouble. Their yeshiva did nothing to stop them from continuing, and worst of all, they were led on by a madrich in their yeshiva. If a girl had ever done this she would have been kicked out of seminary. Just because these girls were"playing along" does not mean it was okay.
In the first video, they only took it down because there was a girl who was so embarrassed and they wouldnt take it down and the head of her seminary had to call their yeshiva. It was a disgrace to the yeshiva and seminary system-that girls felt encourage to act this way and that boys were not reprimanded.
