In a discussion about Yom HaAtzmaut, the State of Israel and Satmar, I heard the following statement said in the name of Rav Yoel Bin-Nun. I think it is a great statement and worth sharing.
[Rav Yoel Bin-Nun] said that he can't understand a philosophy that says that 6 million Jews murdered by the Nazis is the hand of G-d but 600,000 Jews defeating 7 arab nations is the work of the devil..
What do you think?

Interesting article. Personally, I don't see how it makes any sense to condition one's celebration (or non-celebration) of Yom HaAtzmaut on the current state of the state of Israel. As I understand it, the reasons for celebrating this day (for those of us that do) are to praise and thank God for returning us to the land of Israel and giving us sovereignty. If we misuse this gift, that's not God's fault, so I don't see why the praise and thanks should be in any way diminished.
