Quote Of The Day
Because I have a "chiyuv" to daven for the amud, I found myself yesterday leading the services for mincha when I went to pay a condolences call by the prime minister. To my surprise, the prime minister joined me at the end of the services to say kaddish. The two of us stood there and said "Yisgadal v'yiskadash shmei raba". At that moment I did not think about this, but afterwards I thought to myself that there was something great that had happened - two people who competed for the leadership announced together who is really the leader...

What a beautiful quote.
ReplyDeleteAnd an excellent double entendre of Kiddush Hashem!
I would bet they said "yitgadal v'yitkadash," Just sayin . . .
ReplyDeleteWhy was he surprised that the prime minister said kaddish?
ReplyDeleteI was wondering that too, but maybe he meant because they have been rivals and Netanyahu has been fairly outpoken against Feiglin, even though kaddish was expected it can still be a bit startling at the moment...
ReplyDeleteAwesome!
ReplyDeleteI think that's awesome!!!!
ReplyDeleteInterestingly, Mishpacha newspaper had some articles about the shiva. I noticed they mentioned that Netanyahu asked ZAKA (if I remember correctly) to bring necessary equipment and to arrange daily minyanim,.
ReplyDeleteThey did so, but it seems, from what i could understand, Netanyahu himself did not generally participate in the minyanim. Though he did not join the services, he would at times pop in to say kaddish.
It could be the reason Feiglin was surprised was because Netanyahu hadnt been at the minyan.
I was there. He wasn't surprised that the PM said kaddish, he just didnt see the PM while he was davening. the PM was behind him.
ReplyDeleteI believe what he is saying is that together they stood davening and both recognize that Hashem is THE true leader. It was a moment in time of emmett.
ReplyDeleteThis quote is beautiful.
