Iran Will compete Against Israel in Olympics

Are the Iranians getting soft?

After years of refusing to compete against Israelis, or stand alongside Israelis on a medal stand, in international sporting events (such as the Olympics), this year Iran has changed it's tune.

The head of the Iranian Olympic Mission,  Bahram Afsharzadeh, even signed the truce wall, an initiative calling on warring countries to end hostilities during the games, and said that this year the Iranian athletes would compete even against Israelis. Not only that, but he even said that if the IOC should decide to hold the moment of silence in memory of the victims of the Munich Massacre, which they so far have refused to do, the Iranians would respect that and stand in silence as well. I don't know if this means Afsharzadeh is going to be returning to an executioner in Iran after the games, or if Iran has really changed their tune, but now what remains to be seen is which country's athletes will beat the others...

What are some new Olympic sports that you think would make for great competition between the Israelis and the Iranians? I so far have:
  • rocket launching
  • scientist hunting
Late breaking news update: Iran is now denying the report that they are willing to compete against Israel. They still don't want to be shown up and beaten by the Israelis, so they continue to refuse to play..

According to Ynet Breaking News:
Iranian media slammed a report quoting the chairman of the Iranian Olympic committee as saying that Iranian athletes will compete against Israelis in the London Games.
The Fars news agency described the report as "satanic" and claimed the chairman's words were taken out of context. "He said nothing on the matter and did not name Israel," Fars said
Oh well.
