Quote Of The Day
With respect to Mr. Pollard... he is serving that sentence and I do not have any expectation that that is going to change..-- U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
Clinton mentions Pollard near the end of her press conference. What she said is really nothing new, and I would not have expected her to say anything else but what she said. he is serving a life sentence and the only way that will change is by being granted clemency, which is an external method, and one not in Clinton's hands. As far as she is concerned, Pollard is serving a life sentence. The only person qualified to say anything about Pollard's future that might be different is the President of the US himself. Nothing anybody else says matters.

What would happen if just once when Hilary Clinton comes to visit Israel, that if instead of receiving her with open arms, Israel were to tell her to take a hike and only come back when Jonathan Pollard is released? It will never happen, but just as a thought exercise.
ReplyDeleteThen she could say she's cutting off foreign aid to Israel, revoking visas and expelling the 700K or so Israelis in America, won't be granting further visas, stop authorizing sale of arms to Israel. It will never happen, it's just a thought exercise.
ReplyDeleteAmerica buys more arms from Israel than it sells. Just saying.
ReplyDeleteShe wouldn't cut off the foreign aid or arms sales because the US needs us. She wouldn't suddenly befriend Syria or Iran because it is not in the US interest. As for expelling the Israelis from America - doesn't sound so bad. Problem is she wouldn't free Pollard either, so really it would be a waste of time.
ReplyDeleteThe Clintons let people out of jail in return for money or votes. Is Hillary asking here for some payoff?
ReplyDeletevotes is obvious, with US elections on the way. question is if she/Obama is open to that or wont even release him for votes...
ReplyDeleteRafi (S) - Israel wouldn't refuse to accept a visit by the US Secretary of State either. You started the whole thought experiment; you can't expect to be the only one who gets to alter reality.
