Mekubalim Aren't All-Powerful

I guess these mekubalim who held a special secret prayer service for the successful election of Mitt Romney didn't do such a good job... or maybe Mitt Romney just was so problematic himself that even the mekubalim couldn't help him!!

  1. Maybe there was a group of more powerful mekubalim praying for Obama. One which could keep a secret prayer service, I dunno, secret.

It wasn't the mekubal's fault. Romney forgot to donate to Kupat Ha'ir....

  3. Aside from it being patently absurd, wouldn't this almost qualify as a tefilat shav? After all, by the time this "secret prayer" was held, everyone had pretty much decided who they were going to vote for. (Though I guess one could daven for millions of people to be "possessed" and mark the wrong candidate. That was probably it.)

  4. To be honest, looking at the election results Obama lost a votes from 2008, many of the races were also won in his favor by less than 1% of the population. I would keep an eye out over the next decade to look back and say, "Wow, if the Republicans won the whitehouse in 2012, this never would have happened."
