It is always nice to see a Jew succeed, especially an Orthodox Jew, so Jack Lew's recent appointment as Treasury Secretary was cause for celebration (for some) and happiness.
But then somebody told me his theory behind the appointment.
His theory was that US President Barak Obama is setting up the Jews to take the blame for the failed economy.
How is he doing that?
President Obama has put Jews in the key places and positions controlling the US economy. He has now appointed Jack Lew as Treasury Secretary, and Ben Bernaniki is already the Chairman of the Federal Reserve.
If the economy should not recover, or if it should tank even more, it will be Jews who will be seen as having been the cause of it.
To me this sounds a bit too conspiratorial, but I guess it is plausible.
Whether it was a setup or not, I don't know how good of an idea it is to have Jews in such visible points of control over the economy. Or maybe it is a very good idea, because if anyone can fix it, it will most likely be Jews who can fix it.
I don't know whether to wish Jack Lew a mazel tov on his appointment or not, but I do wish him best of luck and much success. Hopefully the worst predictions will not come true and he will successfully guide the USA to an economic recovery.
Either way, though, he really should change his signature before he starts signing the newly printed dollar bills..

I don't know if it's good for the Jews but did you check if President Obama announced it from the grassy knoll?

Similar to one interpretation of why Pharoah appointed a Jewish outsider (Joseph) to be in charge of the Egyptian economy.
ReplyDelete"it will most likely be Jews who can fix it." Yup.
ReplyDeleteBTW, is it common for American 'orthodox' (I assume means religious) Jews not to ear a kipa in public? Senator Lieberman also comes to mind.
Josh
I dont know how common it is, but it is definitely not rare. I knew enough people (when I still lived in the US many years ago) who didnt wear a kippa at work
ReplyDeleteThat's an interesting question. It's certainly a lot more common now then "back in the day" but I'd guess a lot less common among public figure types. We have a lot to thank our Afro-American brothers for in this regard.

So if someone doesn't hire Jews they're anti-semitic and if they do hire Jews, they're also anti-semitic...
ReplyDeleteso it seems...
ReplyDeleteIf you don't hire any Jews you are anti-semitic. If you hire a Jew for Media, Lawyer, or Economy positions, you are anti-semitic.
ReplyDeleteIf you hire Jews to be an intern, or for diplomacy or anything else, you aren't anti-semitic :P
