Quote of the Day

Until today, we were only in coalitions with the Right. But now that story is finished, things are going to change. Now we are with Shelly Yachimovitz. And the truth is, we are much closer to her than we are to Orit Struk from HaBayit HaYehudi.

  --- MK Moshe Gafni (UTJ)

this isn't completely accurate - in 1992 Yitzchak Rabin established the 25th government, for the Labor party. UTJ was part of that coalition. In the 28th government, formed by Ehud Barak of Labor (at the time it was a unified list called Yisrael Achat), UTJ started in the coalition but abandoned it a few months later after the government allowed the transfer of an electric turbine on Shabbos. In the governments after that, one can debate whether the governments formed by Ariel Sharon and Ehud Olmert were considered Right or Left, and look at whether UTJ sat in more Left governments. Either way, it is clear that Gafni's statement that they were only in coalitions with the Right is not true.
And I only started counting from 1992. before that UTJ functioned under different names, and the factions that make up UTJ ran as separate parties, and they too sat with Left governments...

  1. Basically, UTJ are with anyone who will give them money and not make any demands of them other than supporting whichever policies they wish to pursue.

  2. We have all sunk to the lowest depths of being pathetic - the Haredi, the parve, the Torani, the dati-leumi. We are all pathetic, and I hope that someone wakes up soon to stop this disgusting spiral of hate.
