The Habanero pepper is one of the hottest peppers in the world. Even some of the few peppers that are rated as being hotter are offshoots from the Habanero family. Out here in the supermarkets, I have never seen any type of hot pepper other than the basic chili pepper sold. The closest one could get, not including personal import, to any hotter peppers, especially Habanero, is the Tabasco Habanero sauce that can sometimes be found in some supermarkets.
So I was surprised to discover that Habanero peppers are being grown in the Jordan Valley in Moshav Ein Yahav. It seems we are now entering "hot pepper season", as the temperatures begin to rise, the hot peppers get picked quicker, at the hottest stages of their existence. The Habanero peppers in particular are picked early, so they will be especially hot.
For your information, the grower informed the readers of INN that the hottest parts of the peppers are the little seeds and the white section the seeds are connected to. The further one gets away on the pepper from that, the less heat the pepper will have.
I still don't know where these Habanero peppers can be bought, but at least now I know they are also grown in Israel! They must be sold somewhere!

Some of the best videos on YouTube are of these macho guys recording themselves eating Habanero peppers. Inevitably the video ends with them writhing in agony on the floor, sometimes having broken out in full-body skin rashes.
