MK Dr. Ruth Calderon responds to no-confidence vote by reading a Mishna (video)
MK Dr. Ruth Calderon (Yesh Atid) responded on behalf of the government to the no-confidence votes in the Knesset yesterday. She responded with class and decency, and once again with a biblical lesson, this one being read from a mishna in masechet Rosh Hashana..
New politics indeed, and perhaps a newly appreciated face to presented- judaism as well. I am wondering how many divrei torah have been said from the Knesset stand in the past by the more chareidi members? and doesn't it say something loud and clear that when divrei torah, when translatable to contemporary issues, are presented by an educated woman (and bolstered by a chiloni speaker of the knesset - Sheetreet) they are more impressive and appreciated than when it is presented by a chareidi knesset member? Respectively, one seems genuine and the other seems patronizing, antiquated and disconnected from reality.
