The beis din of Kehillas HaYerai'im has decided to sit and discuss many recent tragedies. By the power of the Torah, it has become known to them that the reason for the tragedies is because women walk with their husbands in the streets of the city. So, they have made a decree stating that it is a serious prohibition to go outside with one's wife, and whoever does so, is bringing bad upon himself and upon his household and upon all of Israel.
They also point out on the pashkevil that their beis din is the only one that has smicha going back all the way to Anshei Knesses HaGedola, and whoever listens to the, will be the recipient of blessings and will bring closer the ultimate redemption.
I do not even know what to say about this. I am just flabbergasted..

Could this be a joke?
ReplyDeleteI don't think so.
Deleteit seems real to me. especially because it is using the name of kehillas hayerai'im and not the regular badatz... it could be. I almost hope it is a forgery. but it seems real to me.
ReplyDeletewhat are the disasters? the last election??? the upcoming giyus? the boston massacre? the way my chicken turned out?
ReplyDeleteGoing back to Anshei Knesses HaGedola? Whom are they trying to fool?
ReplyDeletethe date on it is from a year and a half ago.
ReplyDeletegood catch. so they were this crazy a year and a half ago?
DeleteI personally never heard of this Badatz or any of the dayyanim. Not to mention the fact that they are apparently (if they exist at all) Nevi'i Sheker.
ReplyDeleteI had the exact same reaction - namely, that they seem to be exhibiting the signs of a נביא שקר. Specifically, they dare to pretend that they are speaking in Hashem's Name and they are adding to the mitzvot of the Torah.
DeleteI am familiar with this Badatz and with Rav Shwartz who is the head of it (and one of the signators on this paper)
ReplyDeleteif you look at my profile, you will see that the dayan I received kabala in shechita from is Rav Shwartz from Kehillas haYeraim... though I have not seen him in about 6 or 7 years now...
DeleteIf you know him, maybe you should ask him if it is real....
Deletehe wont remember me. and the only method I have of contacting him is going to Jerusalem and trying to find him in the beis din
DeleteIs he a Ger chossid? Gerers would agree that married couples shouldn't walk together.
DeleteDoes this mean you can walk with someone else's wife?
DeleteBen, sorry to hear about your chicken.
ReplyDeletethanks although it is a relief to know that i wasn't the cause
DeleteIf women can't walk out with their husbands... maybe they can walk with other people's husbands??
ReplyDeleteThe only thing to be flabbergasted about is that anyone could take any of this seriously! If we were going to take pashkevils seriously, I think we'd have to concede that Orthodox Judaism entered cult territory a long time ago.
ReplyDeleteCrazy. I have a question, when singing Od Yeshama (or saying the bracha), do they remove the words "ubechutzot yerushalaim"?
