Yesterday, on Tuesday, MK Rabbi Dov Lipman (Yesh Atid) spoke about the Bet Shemesh elections and demanded new elections..
and here is a clip from last night's protest in Bet Shemesh with about 5000 people in the Neimi Mall plaza outside of the Irya offices.. also attended by a number of MKs..

Only Dov Lipman is a rabbi and Yisroel Eichler is not?
ReplyDeleteI knew someone would ask that. I decided to write it that way because I know Dov is a rabbi, actually ordained, while I do not know that of Yisroel Eichler. I know haredim call anyone with a hat or beard "rav", but I try not to and to reserve that title for actual rabbis - at least those either ordained or in positions of rabbi but not politicians just because they are haredi.
ReplyDeleteif however you (or someone else) tell me he is an ordained rabbi, I will be happy to add the honorific.
Fair enough. His Knesset page does say he is בוגר כולל להוראה ”מחזיקי הדת” which would make it likely that he is ordained (note the הוראה part) but I agree it's not definite.
ReplyDelete5000 at the rally?? Is this based on an official etimate?
ReplyDeleteThat's what was reported as the police estimate
DeleteSo basically the conversation goes something like this:
ReplyDeleteEli Cohen's people: We want fair, democratic elections.
Abutbul"s People: You're anti-chareidi!!!!
Eli Cohen's people: The Police should check all complaints of election fraud.
Abutbul"s People: You are defaming chareidim!!!!!
Eli Cohen's people: Whoever wins a fair election - even by 1 vote - should be mayor.
Abutbul"s People: You hate chareidim!!!!!
Eli Cohen's people: Lying and cheating is illegal (as well as assur).
Abutbul"s People: Nazi!!!!!!
