Rav Dovid Kaduri, son of the great kabbalist Rav Yitzchak Kaduri, zt"l, went today to pay a shiva call to the sons of Rav Ovadia Yosef zt"l.
Rav Kaduri told the Yosef family a story that just happened. Just last night his father came to him in a dream. He described to his son the amazing reception that Rav Ovadia received in Heaven. He said that all the great leaders were there to greet him. but he himself was unable to be part of the reception.
Rav Dovid described that the forefathers were there, Moshe Rabbeinu, King David, the Tannaim and Amoraim, gedolim from all the generations..... were all there greeting Rav Ovadia, but he himself was not able to. Rav Dovid had asked his father why he was unable to attend, to which Rav Yitzchak Kaduri explained that he is on a different level in Heaven - the level of "Hassidut" - and form there he was not able to go to the level where the reception for Rav Ovadia was.

I wish there was some additional explanation. Is Hassidut higher or lower than the one where the reception was? What was that one called? What happened at the reception? What did they look like? How often does he talk to his father in dreams? What else has his father told him?

Sorry to be cynical, but could the explanation just be that it's all in his head and he imagined (albeit realistically) that his father came and said this?
ReplyDeleteThe Zohar tells us of the nice reception all righteous souls receive when they get to the next world - you don't have to necessarily be a great talmid chacham to get a warm reception. There are different levels of spirituality in the next world and it is correct that not all souls are privy to go just anywhere they want, hence the remark from the senior Rav Kaduri. The level of Chassidut is on a lower level than the one in which Rav Ovadia was received. Souls from higher levels can visit lower levels but not vice aversa, except for certain periods such as shabbatot and yom tovim. If this topic interests you, my next book due for release in the next month goes into detail on the journey of our soul in olam habba - it is entitled "Back to the Afterlife". Look for it on Amazon.com. B. Kastner
