the real winner of the marathon is....

Wow. a 38 year old from Venezuela finished the Chicago Marathon this week in 16 hours and 46 minutes. That is far off from the winning time of just over 2 hours and 3 minutes...

The difference is that while the winner was Kenyan and in prime health, Maikel Melamed is 38 years old, from Venezuela, and has a rare muscular disease.

Melamed is Jewish. Melamed has now run 3 full marathons, including Chicago, New York and Berlin, and has plans to run two more - Tokyo and Boston.

Talk about determination! I am not even sure who is a bigger winner - the Kenyan or Melamed...
