ok. not quite sure what to say. I don't even know how they got here - don't they not use modern inventions and electricity? they don't even drive cars.. did they fly on a commercial airliner or did they take a steamboat?

I heard about them coming but did not believe it until seeing the picture you posted. I was thinking they'd ride some ZIM steamship. I guess the secular media is going to give them a warm welcome about how wonderful goyish traditions can be.
ReplyDeleteThe Amish who live in the area around Goshen, Indiana, where I work, use electric safety lights on their horse-drawn buggies at night. FYI, I recently saw a buggy pull in to a Taco Bell.
ReplyDeletei can imagine that they put the safety light on their buggies because the state told them to do so or get off the road.
DeleteFrom what I know of the Amish they won't own many forms of modern tech, but have no problem using that which exists if they have a reason too. So they will happily take a bus or train to get to somewhere they need to go, but won't own a car.
ReplyDeleteAlso different Amish groups have somewhat different rules.
One time I was at the Ancient Talmudic Village in Katzrin. There was a bus in the parking lot with a sign on it.

Well since they are clearly in BG airport, they probably came by plane just like almost everyone else.
