name the Israeli version of the White House

The government ministers approved the formation of a ministerial committee to look into two interesting topics.

The first is a topic that has come up a few times - the purchase of a plane for the Prime Minister and President's use. It would be similar to Air Force One.

There are a number of issues that are involved in the decision, including security, expenses (both short term and long term) and appearance and respectability. And on all these issues there are differing opinions as to whether it is necessary and worth it, or not.

More interesting, to Life in Israel, is the second issue the committee will be investigating... and that is the construction of a single structure for both the residence and the offices of the Prime Minister - an Israeli version of the White House.

This, too, has differing opinions about its necessity and its expense. One of the more interesting arguments is that currently the residence and the offices are on opposite sides of town. This requires the Prime Minister to travel to work every day just like any other person. As well, his travel to work creates traffic jams and is a major disturbance to city residents, as it forces roads to be closed while he passes by along with security concerns.

I would hope that if they decide to go ahead with the idea, they would not name it "The White House"... because:
1. it sounds too American. let's be original and give it a more Israeli name..
2. "The White House" might be taken with some racist or discriminatory undertones. Maybe Sefardim will be upset. Maybe Ethiopians will be upset.

Anyways, this is just in humor, as I am sure they will not call it The White House anyway.. so, let's get your best suggestions of names for the Prime Minister's new "White House" style home...

  1. I'm actually wondering how come the P/C movement in America didn't vouch for the changing of the White House name. Perhaps they should call it the Multicolor House? :-)
