Referendum Day to be a vacation day

This law proposal has been bouncing around the government for many years in many forms... and now it is finally moving forward.

MK Yariv Levin's (Likud Beyteynu) law proposal is an amendment to the law that any concession of territory would require a referendum and the support of 80 MKs. The amendment is that the day of such a referendum would be a national vacation day.

The purpose in making it a national vacation day is to give everyone the chance and opportunity to express his or her opinion. If it would not be a vacation day, it would be taken advantage of by interested parties and manipulated in a way to benefit them.

The bill will now move forward for further debate and then for final voting.

I trust that even with the day being a vacation day, if the bill will pass, "interested parties" will still find a way to influence and take advantage of the system. They always seem to find a way, no matter what safeguards are put in place.
