Construction on Highway 38 set to begin!

Good long-term news for Bet Shemesh residents! Construction on Highway 38 is set to begin!

The website Haredim10 is reporting (though I cannot find it announced on the Bet Shemesh municipal website as of right now) that Bet Shemesh City Hall has announced the start of construction of the expansion of Highway 38!

Construction should begin within the coming weeks. Construction should take 3.5 years. Supposedly construction is not meant to make the already horrible traffic situation on the 38 any worse, though I have hard time believing that this will be the case in practice.

In the short-term, traffic will remain bad or get worse, but finally we have a long-term light at the end of the tunnel!

  1. Are they going to have to dig up that huge water pipe that they just spent years laying down alongside the 38?

  2. But... Route 38 is not under the auspices of the Bet Shemesh City Hall. Any construction is requested and ordered by the Ministry of Transportation.

  3. They've been saying "within the next few weeks" for two years already. There was even a supposed letter from the Transport Minister dated in January 2014 saying "sometime in March". Ah well...
