The Knesset Interior Committee yesterday approved of the law proposal to allow it to go back to the Knesset for its final readings.
The thought behind the proposal is to increase the voter turnout and encourage more participation. The Ministry of Interior says it hasnt been a vacation day in 33 years, and since then voter turnout has decreased, with this being one of the factors. A second reason is the logistical problem created in setting up polling stations in schools when it is not a vacation day.
