The founder and force behind a tremendous chessed organization in Bet Shemesh, Ezrat Achim, and a volunteer for Zaka, and probably plenty of other things he is involved in that I am not aware of, Avremi Kopp is a man driven by the desire to help other people.
Besides for his usual work in the area of chessed in Bet Shemesh, mostly involved in medical issues through Ezrat Achim, and in his desire to foster unity among the different sectors in Bet Shemesh by being involved in "the roundtable" discussions, Kopp completely threw himself into supporting the soldiers during the recent conflict in Gaza.
Kopp went, again and again, with truckloads of supplies - food, food and supplies for Shabbos, clothing, hygenic products and whatever else was need for the soldiers. Again and again. He'd go out and buy goods, raise money, raise donations, put everything together, pack up packages, load his vans, and drive down south and provide both physical and emotional support to the soldiers.
Avremi Kopp deserves to be awarded some sort of award for his efforts, both in and out of the city, to help, to create unity and acceptance, to increase love and brotherhood. Kopp deserves to be awarded "Yakir Ha'Ir" of Bet Shemesh, and probably also the Israeli Prize. We in Bet Shemesh are lucky to have an angel in disguise in Avrmei Kopp.
