  1. B"H - It is important to understand that these people are xtians and the reason they come here is to worship their man-god idol, which is strictly prohibited in Jewish Law on the Land. Loving Israel is one thing, loving, or as in this case, hating Hashem is another. As far as the "strong economy" theorem of Berg is concerned, let's do the math. The minimum hourly wage of 25 shekels multiplied by 8 hours a day multiplied by the number of "volunteers" 500, who work for free, multiplied by 25 working days a month, multiplied by 3 months, it's 7.5 million shekels taken out from the economy in lost direct wages, plus we must add to that the loss to all the inducted to local businesses in lost local consumption, the beers, the pizzas, the diapers of all the young families, which is difficult to quantify. In conclusion, these xtians may "help" the individual winery owner to increase his profitability, but certainly penalize our local Jewish youth, undercutting the local Jewish job market. In my assessment, apart from the very serious Jewish, Torah-transgression aspect, this is wicked and should be stopped with no-uncertain measures. We must at least speak up against the xtians being bought in to the Shomron and Yehuda by some wicked corrupts! Besides, it is not a good idea either to have pretty xtian girls walking amongst our youth telling them they love them: No good can come out of it and even the loss of one young man to mixed "marriage" is too high of a price to pay for this senseless experiment. According to Jewish Law, let's keep our Land free of idol-worshiping!

  2. Every Pesach we enter a contractual arrangement concerning the sale of our chometz with a non Jew. Is it anti-Shmittah for them to work in the farms?

  3. They've lost interest in traditional missionizing for the short term. They believe the time for that will come, of course, but for now, their focus is on "building bridges" between Jews and Xians and making opportunities for Xians to immigrate to Israel and to own land and settle here among us. This is not only their parnasah, it is also their Olam HaBa, or so they perceive it as expressed in private communications among them and their supporters.

    1. Well stated.

Although various euphemisms are now being used anyway to replace "missionizing."

They believe in the lies that this is THEIR land, and are the true inheritors of OUR Land, believing that they are following proper divine instructions, and that is no longer us.

Still others the pseudo-"Ephraimites" and "Ten Tribers" and other such organizations believe that they will inherit (are entitled to) the Northern Kingdom, and that Jews will be in the Southern Kingdom. They believe that they will take on misswoth and that Jews will take on a belief in their mythology.

Esau is insidious. His "kiss" really is his bite.

He is confusing to most Jews, because instead of a sword, his weapon is now his smile, which accompany his lies. (See the midrash on Parashath Shemini, regarding the "pig")

For they worship vanity and emptiness, and pray to a god who will not provide salvation.

  4. I admit - I thought the problem with the Christians involvement in Israel is that they want to influence the Jews and possibly missionize. I was not aware that there is a real movement for christians to move to Israel

  5. You can keep up to date with the Key To Redemption and Esav Exposed blogs, as well as JewishIsrael.com.

Danny Danon, Lia Shemtov,...the list goes on of those involved either directly or out of ignorance or both.

There is already one "worship tent" (notice the euphemism?) on one of the hilltops, apparently with the permission of R' E. Melamed, next to Bracha, and now entirely Christian. The Jewish resident recently left.

The negative misswaah of "lo techonem" includes even temporary residence. And, in line with what I mentioned on another one of your posts, the debate over whether Christianity is avodah zara or not, past, present, or future, is irrelevant.

A link to IDF allowance for them to enlist (one of their strategies for building a case for citizenship down the road) can be found at Tomer Devorah.

  6. Ariel, You are absolutely right to correct me. I don't know what I was thinking.

  7. I've been following this issue from afar. A few thoughts:
    1. The Lausanne Movement website is compulsory reading. I even followed one of their online missionising courses. They emphasize the need to distinguish between religion and culture, in that the missionaries should embrace the local culture in order not to alienate their target population from embracing the xn religion. They also write specifically about their problems of missionising Jews, dissecting the world Jewish population to the nth degree. One of the things they write about is the importance of building personal relationships in order to find a way in into closed Israeli circles, such as settlements. All of these ideas are apparently being implemented in Har Bracha.
    2. On this basis I don't think that the xns have abandonned their goals at all. On the contrary. I think that their leader has built a personal relationship with Rav Melamed and he will not do anything to jeopardise that relationship. At the same this Tommy has speaking tours at missionary churches around the world. Thus he is the bridge between the missionaries and Har Bracha.
    3. I saw on Rav Melamed's website that he asked Tommy if he believed that a Jew should remain as such, to which he answered in the affirmative. Of course that is not a contradiction for Tommy et al, because they think that a Jew can embrace their faith, and be, what they call, a "completed Jew".
    4. On the site of the Watchman, a Swedish missionary training organisation, they proudly state that as part of the training their trainees are sent to Har Bracha. Similar statements/connections can be found on the websites of other missionary organisations.
    5. I just want to add that I have every respect for Rav Melamed and I learn from his sifrei halacha, which is why I am horrified and baffled by the reports from his yishuv.
