Remember the Chabadnik who tried to become a fireman, but he wasn't being allowed to pass the qualifications because of his beard?
He won his battle.
The firemans union got together and decided all firemen would grow their beards in protest of the decision.
Kikar is reporting that the fight was successful and the Chabadnik has been granted his badge to serve as a fireman, even with his beard.
Now we just have to hope that the safety precaustion that was demanded was actually just an attempt at setting a higher level of safety and not something that was actually necessary. It would be horrible to now see a bearded fireman go into a burning building or forest and suffer due to a mask that couldn't be sealed properly just because one guy fought for a job.

Mask Seal - silicon gel for sealing diving or snorkeling masks for men with facial hair. Well known problem with a simple solution. http://www.snorkelingonline.com/silicone-mask-seal/ Some bearded firemen note the generous use of Vaseline will do the same thing, but may be a problem with silicone masks.
