focus on ourselves

all year round we spend most of our time focusing on other people's sins. what should he or she have done or what the other person should not have done.
In the Yom Kippur davening, we are instructed to not focus on the other person, but, at least for one day, focus on ourselves, and admit (vidui) is really a confession or admission) that we ourselves aren't as perfect as we always make ourselves out to be, and have plenty to repair on our own.
