  1. This is not normative Judaism. It's normative Chareidism

  2. The difference is that non-haredi young people are free to find their own mates and marry them, irrespective of parents' ability to guy an apt.

  3. The guy's neighbor is a complete idiot. The Torah does no mandate going into debt for the rest of ones life to pay for ones grown children. Charedim are morally corrupt and anyone who buys into the system is devoid of intellect.

  4. The leaders of those communities aren't reading his facebook posts nor are their followers, so the post won't do much good. Maybe he can speak to the leaders directly.
Although, this situation is much more common than it should be, it is not universal in the broad charedi world in Israel. Most families who are charedi are not begging for dollar bills in US shuls. There is a problem for many who don't as well.
Perhaps, Rabbi Oberstein might want to consider settling in Israel where he can see for himself and possibly exert more influence on the Jewish people and their future.

    1. Nor does anyone inside the Charedi community read Rabbi Jonathan Rosenblum's articles. They're just there to make it look like someone is trying. No point they won't listen. Rabbi Oberstein is actually suggesting that we reconsider giving handouts to these situations, since it perpetuates the cycle.
