Giving preference to Israeli goods will be a big boost for the Israeli economy, along with help in creating jobs.
This law was already in effect as a temporary measure, but was due to soon expire. This law extends that temporary measure by an additional 5 years.
The law passed very quickly in all the necessary votes. Yachimovitch says this is testament to the necessity of the law, and the job protection it offers to the 1200 people already employed because of it.

this should not even need to be a law. Government bodies and their representatives should always prefer local goods. It is just common sense.
