Eida extends hands in peace

The Eida Hachareidis has their opinion on the cause of the current round of violence. They argue with Rav Amnon Yitzchak, who says it is caused by people eating meat from shechita with knives that are not sharpened properly, and say it is caused by the people who go up to Har Habayit. Going up to Har Habayit, they say, in addition to transgressing the prohibition, also provoke the Arabs to violence.

The Eida is starting a campaign to try to quell the flow of Jews to Har Habayit. Letters and piskei halacha are being publicized, broadcasts around Jerusalem announcing the prohibition..

It might work, it might not. This is nothing new, nor does it bother me.

the new part of the Eida campaign is, as reported by Bechadrei, a placating statement in the letter they composed that says they extend their hand in peace to the non-Jewish residents of the Holy Land.

That actually is very nice, and I like it. I just wonder if and when they have ever extended their hands in peace to their fellow Jews in the Holy Land....
