The latest Rabbanut kashrut newsletter has an item about these Palestinian Majhoul dates bearing a forged kashrut symbol.
While I am not sure why dates would need a hechsher to be considered kosher, one could at least say they are not under the supervision of Rav Efrati's organization.

kashrut is needed for things like Orlah, terumot maasrot and shviis
ReplyDeleteeven if they are Palestinian? (I guess for Orlah yes)
ReplyDeleteBut one needs the supervision exactly for that - to make sure it's really grown by a non-Jew, and not that's he's the middleman.
DeleteYes - they need to be certified as being nochri, etc.
ReplyDeleteIt seems they are under R" Efrati's hashgacha ,but not under the Rabbanut .
