  1. I think he is correct. the process of making the clip seems to have been inappropriate (without knowing the details of what they used, maybe these were all props and not a real torah and shul) - it at least looks like it was inappropriately made

  2. the author of the clip has pulled the video (before the hoffman article, he says) and apologized... though he says the assumptions are wrong

    Formal apology:
It's that time of month again... There's a video that a Yeshiva World article demands an apology over. I had actually removed it a few hours after posting it, after one sincere friend had suggested I do so. He wasn't nasty. He wasn't trying to get his own post to go viral. He was concerned that the video was inappropriate and I respected his concerns. I also deleted it from other mediums it was hosted on. All this took place well before the YWN article was published.
So right off the proverbial bat, if the video is still out there it's got nothing to do with me.
As for the article itself. It makes a lot of false assumptions and as far as I know no one reached out to myself or the others involved for clarification. My contact info is very much public and I'm a very easy guy to get hold of. The author should've had no problem doing so, had he cared about the facts rather than hits to his page.
In conclusion, I'd like to apologize to the production team and everyone else involved, because had I not been involved the author of the article would've never said a word about it and it's all my fault that it's come to this
