Health Ministry's campaign to eat healthier

the Health Ministry is advancing its campaign to change our eating habits and encourage the Israeli public to eat healthier.

They have already worked on changing the rules of what foods can be served in schools, and the fast food joints such as Mc Donalds, and the newest phase of the campaign has the Health ministry targeting processed foods in general and specifically the variety of snacks commonly consumed in Israel, mostly by children but by adults as well. Bamba, potato chips, bisli, pretzels, ketchup, are all among the targets.

The campaign is specifically targeting foods with high levels of salt content. On average, Israelis consume double the amount of sodium than the average worldwide, and 75% of our sodium comes from processed foods..

According to The Marker, after just one week there has already been a sharp decline in sales of unhealthy foods with an increase in sales of foods considered healthy.

Hopefully the trend will continue, as will the campaign. We can all stand to eat, and live, a bit healthier.

Litzman is doing a great job so far.
